Starters at Momocha – where every meal begins right.
When you walk into Momocha, the starters are the first thing we want you to experience. These aren't just small bites to pass the time. We craft each one with bold Nepali and Newari flavours that stand on their own. Whether you eat meat or prefer plant-based dishes, you'll find something worth ordering before the mains even arrive.
— Non-Veg Starters
Built around authentic Nepali technique
Charcoal grilling, homemade spice blends, and slow-marinated meats — prepared fresh every day.
— Choila
Chicken · Goat · Buff
One of the most iconic dishes in Newari cuisine. We charcoal-grill the meat and marinate it in fresh ginger, garlic, coriander and mustard oil. The smoky char with the tangy mustard oil is something you’ll want to come back for.
— Sukuti
Chicken · Goat · Buff
Nepali-style dried meat cured in cumin, turmeric, black pepper, coriander, chilli, ginger, garlic and onion. Chewy, intensely spiced and deeply satisfying — for bold, concentrated flavours.
— Spicy Chicken Wings
Marinated in a spicy Nepali blend and deep-fried until perfectly crisp. One of our most popular starters. Great for sharing — though you might not want to.
— Nepalese Style Chicken Fried
Similar to the wings but bone-in. Marinated in spices and deep-fried until golden. Crispy outside, juicy inside.
— Tass
Toast meat marinated in ginger, garlic and traditional Nepali spices. Served with puffed rice, salad and chutney. One of the most interesting plates we put out.
— Spicy Chicken Giblet
Tender chicken giblets sautéed with aromatic herbs and spices until soft and full of flavour. For those who appreciate offal done right.

— Chicken Tikka Sizzler
Half · Full
Boneless chicken fillets marinated overnight in tandoori spices and cooked in our clay oven. Served with mint sauce. Arrives at your table sizzling.
— Chicken Tandoori Sizzler
Half · Full
Same clay-oven process, but with whole chicken pieces on the bone. The overnight marination does the hard work.
— Nepalese Style Chicken Sizzler
Newari Feast
Baji Set: choila, Nepali chiura, aalu achar, vatmas and salad (chicken, goat or buffalo). Samay Baji Set goes further — choila, aalu bodi tama, kalo vatmas, chiura, piro aalu, bara, egg and salad. If you’ve never had a Newari feast, start here.
— Deep Fried Sausage
Sausage deep-fried until crispy and served with chutney. Quick, crunchy, and pairs perfectly with a cold drink while you wait for the rest of your order.
— Meat Platter
The full non-veg experience: fried sausage, sukuti, bhuttan, Nepalese-style chicken fried, chicken wings, and choila of your choice. What we recommend when your group wants to try a bit of everything.
— Veg Starters
Just as bold, just as carefully made
From street-corner chaat to a full Newari Khaja Set, our plant-based starters carry the same craft as everything else on the table.
— Samosa
Filled with spiced boiled potato and vegetables, wrapped in homemade pastry and deep-fried fresh. The starter we suggest you begin every visit with.
— Samosa / Papdi Chaat
Our samosa topped with chickpeas, chopped onion, yogurt and our special sauce. Tangy, spicy, sweet and crunchy all at once.
— Pani Puri
Hollow flour balls filled with spiced mashed potato, onion and black chickpeas, served with our homemade tangy water. One of South Asia’s most loved street foods.
— Chatpate
Hot, spicy and tangy. Boiled potato, tomato, onion, coriander, lime juice and puffed rice mixed together — the kind of flavour you’d find on a Kathmandu street corner.
— Veg Pakoda
Onion, flour and our chef’s special herbs and spices, deep-fried until crispy. Served with tamarind sauce. Light, crunchy, and hard to stop at just one.
— Aalu Chop
Potatoes mashed with Nepali spices and herbs, shaped into patties and fried until golden. Soft centre, crispy shell.
— Gundruk Sadheko
Fermented leafy greens mixed with spices, herbs, onions and tomatoes. Tangy, full of character, and unlike anything else on most menus.

— Nepalese Style Potato Salad
Potatoes mixed with tangy, spicy Nepali spices and chilli powder, served cold. A refreshing contrast to our fried options.
— Soya Chunk Chhoila

— Veg Khaja Set
Samosa, pakoda, aalu chop, vatmas, chiura, aalu ko achar, soya chunk choila and aalu tamma — a Newari feast on one plate. The starter we’d put in front of you first.
